Retreat Part 2: The Fun Continues!

Everyone was busy continuing to work on their projects on Day 2. Up first is Jane's table topper work-in-progress:

And my Cardinal quilt work-in-progress:

Jane is also working on a lovely blue batik quilt:

And Marilyn is checking out her block set up with Darlene....

....and then Darlene got working on her blocks.

Myrtle is finishing up her placemats..

while Dawn is doing more binding! (she must really love sewing binding!!)

Louise is putting some blocks together.

These blocks are done by hand embroidery and were made by Bev W:

 Beautiful work and lovely colours!

This is the pattern - Afternoon Tea and i found it for sale here - Afternoon Tea Pattern

Several of the girls had these handy side tables that their machines sat in - really great idea to free up your work table!

The web site is www.sewezi.com and you can connect via this LINK.

My blue and white quilt blocks are coming together.

This is BJ's quilt; it is coming together very nicely.

Our very good friend Betty stopped by the retreat and we surprised her with the quilt we made for her!

She was very delighted - we love you Betty!

Today's Strip Poke was for blue FQs - so lovely!

Jane won at one table and ...

Carole won at the second table - good job girls!

And then Show and Tell started! First up was Elaine with a Disappearing 4 patch for her granddaughter in Oklahoma. The disappearing 4 patch pattern can be found on many blogs, here is a tutorial and pattern from Fons and Porter - Disappearing Four PatchThis pattern can have so many different looks depending on your fabric choice and block placement - this is lovely!

Next was this quilt that Elaine made for her son and daughter in law - very nice!

Donna showed this quilt that 'kind of got away' on her! It's a baby quilt made from a panel that you cut and piece back together adding your own fabric. We all thought it would be a great quilt for the baby to grow up with!

This is one of Sharon's quilts - this Cat Quilt is machine embroidered and is very colourful!

This is a table topper that Sharon made and it is also machines embroidered - I think Sharon said it a a Karen Brooks pattern. Lots of detail in this piece!

This is Debbie's quilt that started life as a paper bag challenge; she started with the center block (which has crayon accents) and the quilt grew from the center out!

This is Faye's civil war quilt - very nice!

And this is her Pennsylvania wall hanging which started life as a panel.

This is Faye's Christmas table topper that she is donating to Valour House in Edmonton. Very festive!

And last up for Faye is her zig-zag quilt!

Cheryl's first quilt is Turning 20 Again - I love the Turning 20 quilts, so complex looking!

I forgot to get the name of this beauty but it certainly has lovely fall colours.

This quilt was made from batik fabric - very nice!

And this Civil War quilt was purchased during a shop hop in California; each star has 31 pieces and there are 29 stars - beautiful! It is called Harper's Ferry and I found the quilt pattern for sale on this web site - Click here!

This is Jane's finished table topper (top) - very lovely!

And this is her beautiful Batik quilt!

Dawn showed this beautiful quilt which was from a paper bag fabric challenge (I think!); it is stunning! The quilting is done by Monika Croft from Fruitvale, BC and I found her Etsy webpage right HERE!

This is Marilyn's fat quarter quilt called Crazy Boxes - very interesting and lovely! I googled the pattern but couldn't find it so I may have the name incorrect - if I find it, I will post it!

This is Marilyn's work-in-progress on the wall - we'll see more later!

The is Marilyn's own pattern! Her husband picked out the 49 civil war fat quarters - beautiful! (Do you think Marilyn will lend out her husband for fabric shopping?)

A blue/green stack and whack wall hanging!

A reverse-applique Celtic Knot -much more complex than it looks, it's not made with bias tape but by reverse applique - great job Marilyn!

These are two landscape quilts that Marilyn is quite proud of - rightfully so! - as she didn't think she could make them. Well Marilyn, Van Gogh didn't think he could paint, so you are both wrong! Lovely!

This is Jean's Hunter Star quilt; stunning in red and black!

This is one of Louise's baby quilts - very pretty!

And a second baby quilt from Louise - very soft and cuddly!

This is a quilt that Helen made with her 8 year old granddaughter! Her granddaughter pieced the seaside blocks while Gramma pieced the boat blocks - what a lovely quilt that will be cherished for many, many years!

These are Marilyn's beautiful fall placemats and table runner (which she almost forgot to show us!).

And this is another quilt that Donna is making from a panel - adding her own fabric as she goes; what a great use of a panel!

This is myself, Dawn and Carole; we had a great time is our little 'back corner'; Carole and Dawn are both wearing masking tape corsages - Dawn uses them to stick stray pieces of thread while she sews, so clever!

We thought we had everyone is our group shot but found out when we got home that we didn't; so sorry! Next year we will do a roll call!

That's all for now - Part 3 will be posted soon. Thanks for reading!
Take care,
Bev
