A little bit of April, May and June!

How is it that our Annual Retreat has come and gone again for another year? I think I must be caught in a time warp because I don't feel any older and yet I know the years are going by! Does that ever happen to you?

We set the dates of late May/early June for our 'spring' retreat - I think I've told you that spring and summer were very late in coming this year and so was our retreat!

But before I get into the retreat, here are a few photos from April. This is Cheryl's sewing project - it's a simple but effective way of putting blocks together and the colours - all of them - go together very nicely!

Faye 2 is very happy with her work - I love flowers too!

Carole is helping Faye 1 who is apparently cold - and confused! These are some of the Canadian Women 150 blocks. 

And here is one of Carmen's 150 blocks - lovely! And so small, finish at 6 inches!

Judy is working with red and white too, but her pieces are larger than the 150 blocks. 

Sorry, I don't remember who these belong to - or should I say "to whom these blocks belong"? But it's looking good!

Jane is busy powering away - good job!

Now is the start of our retreat as this is Wendy who used to sew with us (more years ago than I would like to remember!) and this is a block from a new book she bought .......

Called "Wood Appliqué folk art", it is full of lovely folksy patterns!

It's lunch time - and no, I don't work for Wendys but I love their salads! This is the new one with mango ......

and this is the taco salad ......

and my current favourite (and my salad!) the apple, pecan, blue cheese, grilled chicken with pomegranate dressing - yum!

After lunch we played Strip Poker for black and white fabric strips - I think this black and white combination was one of our best! Everyone bought such beautiful strips and of course, they all went together so well.

And our big winner was Myrtle! Yay! I think this was her first time winning too!

Then we celebrated Carmen's June birthday with a Strawberry/Jello/cheesecake/cake! 

These are a few of my blocks; still working on last year's Pat Sloan Splendid Sampler. Four of those little blocks go together to make about 1/3 of a  6" block.

This is a charity quilt top that Judy put together using a fast flying goose block - lovely!

Here is Wendy with her first (of many) log cabin blocks. Love the colours!

This is a nifty tip that Wendy share with us - using plastic utensil trays to store your strips for your log cabin blocks. Keeps the fabric strips organized according to size - very neat!

This is one of Faye 1's first completed blocks for her Hopscotch quilt - see the
pattern below.

Doesn't fabric choice make a big difference?? I don't think I would have purchased the pattern with the fabrics shown on the cover.

Here are the Splendid Sampler blocks I finished during this retreat- I think I have completed 67 to date; still a ways to go!
